Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.17 bears all the hallmarks of his genius – beautiful melodies, a precise balance of joy and poignancy, and his trademark irrepressible energy.
It’s the perfect work for acclaimed Australian pianist Daniel de Borah, demonstrating his interpretative skills within a program that pays homage to Mozart.
Schubert’s Fifth Symphony is often considered to be his most Mozart-like, but Schubert’s own genius blooms in delightful melodies and gorgeously romantic moods. Writing in his diary, Schubert reveals his passion for Mozart’s music:
“O Mozart! Immortal Mozart! What countless impressions of a brighter, better life hast thou stamped upon our souls!”
The program is full of moments of such brightness and emotion.
