Special Event: The Music of Joe Hisaishi
For Stages 4–6
Specially curated, and performed on the stage of the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, our hour-long Special Event performances are designed to engage your students with fascinating storytelling and sublime live orchestral music.
Known for his close association with the films of Studio Ghibli and Japanese animation director Hayao Miyazaki, Joe Hisaishi has created the stunning musical accompaniment to countless films including Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Howl’s Moving Castle.
Also a celebrated contemporary classical composer, Joe Hisaishi has brought his singular musical style to life on the concert hall stage with the world’s greatest orchestras.
Students will be guided through the world of Hisaishi’s music by Art of the Score podcasters Dan Golding, Andrew Pogson and conductor Nicholas Buc as they unpack, demystify and celebrate the works and career of the great Japanese Maestro, with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House.
