Second Violin
Biography
Victoria Bihun grew up in Benalla, Victoria. She began playing the violin at the age of five and from the age of nine was making the 400km round trip to Melbourne every Saturday morning to participate in Melbourne Youth Music programs.
She completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying with Mark Mogilevski. As a student she won many university prizes and was concertmaster with both the Melbourne Youth Orchestra and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra, as well as appearing as Guest Concertmaster with Victorian Opera.
In 2012 she was awarded the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra String Scholarship and furthered her studies in Hobart with Jun Yi Ma, becoming a regular guest musician with the TSO. That same year she won Tasmania University’s D & MV McDonald Travelling Scholarship, which took her to the UK where she studied for three months with David Takeno and Simon Fischer. While in Hobart she also appeared as soloist with the Hobart Chamber Orchestra and performed in various chamber ensembles with Virtuosi Tasmania.
Victoria Bihun is an alumna of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship program, which saw her perform in masterclasses with Anne Sophie Mutter, Daniel Müller-Schott and Pinchas Zuckerman. She joined the Second Violins of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in 2017.
