Anthony Abouhamad

Anthony Abouhamad performs on historical keyboard instruments and holds a particular interest for the music of the eighteenth century. He has studied music both in Sydney and at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, The Netherlands. The study of historical performance practices and theory, as well as an awareness of music’s cultural context, plays an important role in his attitude towards music making. In addition to participating with established ensembles and orchestras throughout Australia and Europe, Anthony performs with the “Muffat Collective”, a chamber group consisting of four friends who specialise in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century music. Anthony teaches both musicology and historical performance subjects at the Sydney Conservatorium, connecting theory and practice guides his approach to music education. Currently, he is in the final stages of completing his PhD at the University of Sydney.
In addition to music, swimming is an important part of Anthony’s week. He is a member of “Wett ones”, a member team of Masters Swimming Australia.
