Sam Weller

Sam Weller is a conductor based across Sydney and Amsterdam, having graduated from the prestigious National Masters in Orchestral Conducting in The Netherlands studying under Ed Spanjaard, Jac van Steen, Kenneth Montgomery OBE and guest professor Antony Hermus.
After graduating Sam made professional debuts with the Noord Nederlands Orkest, The Radio Filharmonisch Orkest and Canberra Symphony orchestra to critical acclaim. Sam makes his Dutch operatic debut in 2023 with a new national touring production of Die Zauberflöte, alongside other guest engagements with various Dutch orchestras.
In 2016 Sam founded Ensemble Apex, which has been hailed as ‘one of the most exciting new orchestras on the Sydney scene’. The orchestra creates exceptional orchestral music moments for newcomers and seasoned concert-goers alike. Apex has presented sold-out seasons since 2016, highlights of which include; Bela Bartok’s Miraculous Mandarin at Sydney Town Hall, Rhapsody in Blue with Simon Tedeschi, Strauss’ Eine Alpensinfonie and most recently Verdi’s Messa da Requiem in a spellbinding collaboration with Phoenix Central Park and Sydney Philharmonia Choirs.
